Among musicians from Olympus you will not find another such biography. A partner of Svyatoslav Richter and Christian Zimmerman, a student of David Oistrakh and the winner of the most prestigious German competition ARD, and at the same time - a participant in the Odessa KVN team, because of the daring jokes of which the broadcast was forbidden at one time. All this is Pavel Vernikov, a citizen of the world and an eternal Odessa citizen, jokingly accustomed to: “I did not emigrate from Odessa - I temporarily left”.
Vernikov knows how to be so fascinating that, listening to him, I want to eat a mittens. A philosopher in music and a hochmach in life, a tireless hard worker and minion of fate, ice and fire on stage. He performs at Carnegie Hall in New York and the Kennedy Center in Washington, London's Wigmore Hall and La Scala, and then breaks down and travels to Odessa with some crazy project like the theater play AdessO OdessA.
In addition, Pavel Vernikov is also a strict professor at the famous Vienna Conservatory and the Higher School of Music in Lausanne, as well as the art director of the Sion Music Festival. This is an honorable festival with a long history of half a century, organized in 1964 by the famous Hungarian violinist Tibor Varga. The place for him was chosen, it must be said, divine: magnificent castles, a long winemaking tradition and the sunniest region in Switzerland. The musician will bring the atmosphere of this splendor to Kiev: his Kiev concert is something like a presentation of the Swiss festival. So, the music will have a lot of sun and, of course, unsurpassed Swiss quality. In addition to Vernikov, his talented wife, violinist Svetlana Makarova will solo.
