Peter and the Wolf || 29 march 2020 || Symphony Hall

In March, we invite you to visit a unique show, which combines live performance of the symphonic fairy tale “Petya and the Wolf” from Kyiv Symphony Orchestra with charming sand animation of Svetlana Telbukh.
Could a boy from the Ukrainian village of Sontsovka believe that presidents Bill Clinton and Mikhail Gorbachev, actors Sharon Stone, Sophia Loren and Antonio Banderas, rock musicians David Bowie, Alice Cooper and Sting would once voice his tale?
This boy is the world famous composer Sergei Prokofiev, and the fairy tale is the best guide to the orchestra "Peter and the Wolf." The symphonic tale hastily created in the spring of 1936 was played by the best orchestras of the world under the guidance of the legendary conductors Leonard Bernstein, Lepold Stokowski and Daniel Barenboim. In 1946, Walt Disney was one of the first to film “Peter and the Wolf”, and in 2006, director Susie Templeton received her “Oscar” for the animation of Prokofiev’s fairy tale.
Humanity has not yet come up with anything better for introducing kids to the orchestra. However, Kyiv Symphony Orchestra, led by conductor Natalia Stets, together with Svetlana Telbuh, a participant in the show Ukraine's Got Talent, America's Got Talent, and the semi-finalist Spain's Got Talent, came up with something else. Together they will present a unique version of “Petit and the Wolf” with sand animation, which will be carried out live during the musicians' game.
